The present thesis is a Persian translation of the book "A Guide to Machine Translation for Todayʹs Professional Translator" by Michael Farrell; a comprehensive work that examines both the theoretical an‎d practical aspects of machine translation an‎d post-editing. This book is designed to familiarize professional translators an‎d students with modern language technologies, including statistical machine translation, neural translation, an‎d large language models. It covers topics such as the history of machine translation, common errors in machine translation outputs, methods for eva‎luating translation quality, an‎d strategies for improvement. Furthermore, this book explores how professional translators can practically utilize machine translation in their daily activities an‎d provides a clear picture of the interaction between technology an‎d human skill in the translation process through real examples an‎d case studies. The goal of this translation is to provide an educational an‎d practical resource for students an‎d professionals in the translation field in Iran, enabling them to consciously an‎d effectively leverage modern translation technologies by gaining a deeper understan‎ding of their capabilities an‎d limitations. Given the educational an‎d informational nature of this book, the translation has been focused on accurately, clearly, an‎d unambiguously conveying scientific an‎d technical concepts. In this regard, fidelity to content an‎d conceptual clarity have taken precedence over aesthetic considerations. This translation can serve not only as an educational an‎d theoretical resource but also as a useful reference for teaching at the undergraduate an‎d graduate levels in the field of translation studies.

پايان‌نامه‌ي حاضر، ترجمه‌ي فارسي كتاب «راهنماي ترجمه‌ي ماشيني براي مترجم حرفه‌اي امروز» اثر مايكل فارل است؛ اثري جامع كه به بررسي جنبه‌هاي نظري و عملي ترجمه‌ي ماشيني و پساويرايش مي‌پردازد. اين كتاب با هدف آشنا كردن مترجمان حرفه‌اي و دانشجويان با فناوري‌هاي نوين زباني، از جمله ترجمه‌ي ماشيني آماري، عصبي و مدل‌هاي زباني بزرگ، تدوين شده است و دربرگيرنده‌ي مباحثي همچون تاريخچه‌ي ترجمه‌ي ماشيني، خطاهاي متداول در خروجي موتورهاي ترجمه، روش‌هاي ارزيابي كيفيت ترجمه و راهكارهاي بهبود آن است. افزون بر اين، كتاب حاضر به بررسي نحوه‌ي استفاده‌ي عملي مترجمان حرفه‌اي از ترجمه‌ي ماشيني در فعاليت‌هاي روزمره‌ي خود مي‌پردازد و با ارائه‌ي مثال‌هاي واقعي و مطالعات موردي، تصويري روشن از تعامل ميان فناوري و مهارت انساني در فرآيند ترجمه ارائه مي‌دهد. هدف از اين ترجمه، فراهم‌كردن منبعي آموزشي و كاربردي براي دانشجويان و فعالان حوزه‌ي ترجمه در ايران است تا با شناخت دقيق‌تر ظرفيت‌ها و محدوديت‌هاي فناوري‌هاي نوين ترجمه، بتوانند از آن‌ها به‌صورت آگاهانه و مؤثر در كار خود بهره گيرند. با توجه به ماهيت آموزشي و اطلاعاتي اين كتاب، ترجمه با تمركز بر انتقال دقيق، روشن و بي‌ابهام مفاهيم علمي و فني انجام گرفته است. در اين راستا، وفاداري به محتوا و وضوح مفهومي بر جنبه‌هاي زيبايي‌شناختي تقدم داشته است. اين ترجمه مي‌تواند علاوه بر ارزش آموزشي و نظري، به‌عنوان مرجعي مفيد براي تدريس در مقطع كارشناسي و كارشناسي ارشد رشته‌ي مترجمي (مطالعات ترجمه) مورد استفاده قرار گيرد.
