English Abstract
Spelling, this important component of writing, is essential for ensuring clarity, coherence, and mutual understanding in written communication. It poses a formidable obstacle for those who do not master it. Given the significance of correct spelling in conveying messages in written French communication, this study sought the true causes of spelling errors among Iranian students learning French as a Foreign Language in the 2nd, 4th, and 6th semesters at the University of Isfahan. In this research, we examined spelling errors made by our students to identify problematic areas, formulate hypotheses about the origins of these errors, and assess how their spelling evolves during their 4 years of studies. This research relied on the typology of spelling errors designed by Véronique (1983). Our corpus included written productions from students during final exams. The analysis of written productions from the studied group revealed that morphogrammatic errors dominate among our students at all levels. In conclusion, we also observed that some errors are influenced by the first Learned Language (LL1) acquired, namely English.

املا اين عنصر مهم از نوشتار، كه براي تضمين وضوح، در ارتباطات نوشتاري ضروري است، براي كسي كه آن را مسلط نيست، يك مانع بسيار قوي است. با توجه به اهميت املاي صحيح در ارتباطات نوشتاري در زبان فرانسه، اين تحقيق به دنبال يافتن دلايل اصلي اشتباهات املايي فرانسه آموزان ايراني در ترم هاي دوم، چهارم و ششم در دانشگاه اصفهان بود. در اين تحقيق، ما اشتباهات املايي دانشجويان خود را بررسي كرديم تا موارد مشكل ساز را شناسايي كرده و فرضياتي درباره منشأ اين اشتباهات مطرح كنيم و همچنين ببينيم كه در طول چهار سال تحصيلي املايشان چه تغييراتي را تجربه ميكند. اين تحقيق بر اساس مدل اشتباهات املايي ارائه شده توسط ورونيك (1983) صورت گرفت. نمونه هاي ما شامل توليدات نوشتاري دانشجويان در زمان آزمون هاي پاياني بود. تحليل توليدات نوشتاري مخاطبان مورد مطالعه نشان داد كه اشتباهات مربوط به مورفوگرامي در تمامي سطوح اكثريت بيشتري را شامل مي شود . در پايان مشاهده كرديم كه برخي از اشتباهات به تأثير اولين زبان خارجي فراگيري شده، يعني انگليسي، برمي گردد.
