Orientalism is a school of interpretation an‎d translation that focuses on the Orient, its civilizations, peoples an‎d neighbors. Orientalism is one of the important issue in the West, because it has played an important role in formation of Western perceptions an‎d representations. Also, the 19th century is one of the most important period due to the emergence of literary movements an‎d industrial an‎d political developments that occurred at that time. Therefore, in this research, we will examine the comparative concepts of orientalism an‎d otherness in the books of Byronʹs Don Juan an‎d Hugoʹs les Orientales, an‎d also examine the influential factors in the nineteenth century an‎d its impact on literature, especially romantic poets an‎d writers. The analysis of Don Juan by Lord Byron an‎d les Orientales by Victor Hugo through the lens of Edward Saidʹs theories reveals several important themes an‎d concepts. Both works engage with the concept of Orientalism, scrutinizing Western representations of the East an‎d challenging the power dynamics embedded in such depictions. Byronʹs Don Juan presents a rebellious hero who challenges social norms, while Hugoʹs les Orientales strengthens the voice of oppressed Eastern societies an‎d questions the dominance of the West. These works also explore concepts of hybridity an‎d resistance an‎d show the potential of cross-cultural identities that challenge Orientalist stereotypes. In addition, they address the complexities of identity an‎d otherness an‎d highlight the fluidity an‎d evolution of individual an‎d cultural identities. Finally, both works address the issue of cultural exchange an‎d the potential for miscommunication an‎d misunderstan‎ding between different cultures. By applying Saidʹs ideas, a comprehensive analysis of Don Juan an‎d les Orientales emerges, an‎d their interaction with Orientalism illuminates the dynamics of power, resistance, identity, an‎d cultural exchange.

شرق شناسي مكتبي از تفسير و ترجمه است كه توجه آن بر مشرق زمين، تمدن ها و مردمان آن متمركز است. شرق‌شناسي در غرب از اهميت زيادي برخوردار است، زيرا نقش مهمي در شكل‌گيري برداشت‌ها و بازنمايي‌هاي غربي داشته است. همچنين قرن 19 به دليل ظهور جنبش هاي ادبي و تحولات صنعتي و سياسي كه در آن زمان رخ داد، از اهميت بالايي برخوردارمي باشد. دراين پژوهش به بررسي مفاهيم تطبيقي شرق شناسي و ديگربودگي در كتاب هاي دن ژوان از بايرون و شرقيات از هوگو مي پردازيم وتحليلي بر عوامل تأثيرگذار در قرن نوزده و تاثيرش بر ادبيات رومانتيك خواهيم داشت. تحليل دن ژوان اثر لرد بايرون و شرقيات اثر ويكتور هوگو از دريچه نظريات ادوارد سعيد چندين مضمون و مفهوم مهم را آشكار مي كند. هر دو اثر با مفهوم شرق‌شناسي درگير هستند، بازنمايي‌هاي غربي از شرق را موشكافي مي‌كنند و پويايي قدرت نهفته در تصويرهاي شرقي را به چالش مي‌كشند. دن ژوان قهرماني سركش را به نمايش مي گذارد كه هنجارهاي اجتماعي را نشان ميدهد، در حالي كه شرقيات صداي جوامع شرقي تحت ستم را تقويت مي كند و سلطه غرب را زير سوال مي برد. اين آثار همچنين با بررسي مفاهيم دورگه و مقاومت پتانسيل هويت‌هاي ميان فرهنگي را نشان داده كه كليشه‌هاي شرق‌شناسي را به تصوير مي‌كشند. علاوه بر اين، آنها به پيچيدگي هاي هويت و دگر بودگي پرداخته و تكامل هويت هاي فردي و فرهنگي را برجسته مي كنند. در نهايت، هر دو اثر به موضوع تبادل فرهنگي و پتانسيل سوء ارتباط و سوء تفاهم بين فرهنگ‌هاي مختلف اشاره ميكنند.
