English Abstract
Under the educational approach known as collaborative learning (CL), students cooperate in small groups to achieve a shared learning objective (Lu & Smiles 2022). This mixed-methods study was carried out among Iraqi TEFL students at the BA level. The study was an attempt to investigate the contribution of CL to Iraqi EFL learners’ listening comprehension performance, self-efficacy (SE), and self-regulated strategies SRL strategies. The study also considered the challenges on the way. It was conducted at the University of Kufa, College of Education, Najaf, Iraq. The participants were 60 Iraqi male and female students with the age range of 20- 25. They were at the BA level, and their major was TEFL. The results of the study indicated CL techniques had a significant effect on Iraqi undergraduate intermediate EFL learners’ listening comprehension performance. Also, most of the learners believed that SE in CL was important in EFL teaching and learning contexts. The results also indicated positive attitudes of the participants towards SRL strategies in CL. Finally, some challenges in implementing CL strategies, interaction processes, and differences in learning styles were found as noticeable. In sum, the studyʹs findings suggest CL has a significant effect on raising students’ listening comprehension performance, as well as, promoting their participation towards the benefits of employing their SE and SRL strategies in their learning. Educators, course book developers, and scholars in Iraq can make use of the findings of the present study to establish and expand collaborative skills through in-service programs such as seminars, workshops, and conferences. Moreover, syllabus designers might organize their syllabi around SRL strategies, and around tasks and learning activities that involve students in CL.

تحقيق حاضر تاثير يادگيري مشاركتي بر مهارت شنيداري, خودكارآمدي و راهبردهاي يادگيري خودتنظيم فراگيران عراقي زبان انگليسي را بررسي نمود. اين تحقيق در مقطع كارشناسي رشته أموزش زبان انگليسي انجام شد. مكان تحقيق دانشگاه كوفه، دانشكده علوم تربيتي، در نجف، عراق بود. شركتكنندگان شامل 60 دانشجوي مرد و زن عراقي با دامنه سني 20 تا 25 سال بودند. نتايج مطالعه نشان داد كه تكنيكهاي يادگيري مشاركتي تأثير معني داري بر مهارت شنيداري زبانآموزان سطح متوسط عراقي دارد. همچنين بيشتر زبانآموزان بر اين باور بودند كه خود كارأمدي در يادگيري مشاركتي و ساير زمينههاي أموزش نقش مهمي دارد. نتايج همچنين نشان داد كه شركتكنندگان نسبت به راهبردهاي يادگيري خودتنظيم نگرش مثبت دارند. در نهايت، برخي چالشها در اجراي يادگيري مشاركتي، فرآيندهاي تعامل و تفاوتهاي سبكهاي يادگيري به وضوح مشاهده شد. خلاصه اينكه، يافتههاي اين مطالعه نشان ميدهد كه يادگيري مشاركتي تأثير معني داري بر بهبود مهارت شنيداري دانشجويان دارد و همچنين مشاركت آنها را در بهره برداري از خودكار امدي وراهبردهاي يادگيري خود تنظيم افزايش ميدهد. مربيان، طراحان كتابهاي درسي و محققان در عراق ميتوانند از يافتههاي اين مطالعه براي ايجاد و گسترش مهارتهاي يادگيري مشاركتي از طريق برنامههاي آموزشي مانند سمينارها، كارگاهها و كنفرانسها استفاده كنند. علاوه بر اين، طراحان برنامه درسي ممكن است برنامههاي خود را بر اساس راهبردها و فعاليتهاي يادگيري خود تنظيم كه دانشآموزان را در يادگيري مشاركتي درگير ميكند، سازماندهي كنند.
