Examining Common Concerns of Parents Regarding Childbearing an‎d Quranic an‎d Narrational Responses to Them

Childbearing in the contemporary Islamic society has faced various challenges an‎d misconceptions that appear as serious obstacles for families. The most important of these obstacles are: 1) fear of poverty an‎d economic hardship, 2) concern about the inability to provide proper upbringing an‎d education, 3) anxiety regarding children’s future, an‎d 4) the perception that having children hinders the parents’ personal an‎d professional progress. This study aims to provide an analytical an‎d specialized examination of these four challenges through a descriptive-analytical method, relying on an in-depth study of the verses of the Holy Qur’an, authentic narrations, an‎d Islamic exegeses. In addressing these issues, the roots of these concerns an‎d misconceptions are first investigated, an‎d then both “cognitive” solutions (aimed at correcting parents’ perspectives) an‎d “practical” solutions (aimed at improving lifestyle) are proposed in order to help overcome these anxieties. The findings of the research indicate that the primary root of these challenges lies less in objective an‎d external limitations an‎d more in a cognitive crisis, weakness in fundamental beliefs such as trust in God an‎d belief in His providence, an‎d the dominance of a materialistic worldview toward life. Ultimately, this thesis seeks to present a comprehensive an‎d practical picture of the Islamic perspective, with the aim of clarifying ambiguities, assisting Muslim families in making informed decisions, an‎d fostering a renewed understan‎ding of childbearing in Islamic society.
