Comparative literature is a type of interdisciplinary research that studies the historical relationships of national literature with the literature of other languages, explores the connections between them, an‎d compares their artistic, spiritual, content, technical roles an‎d influences, an‎d their historical connections.One of the fields of comparative research in literature is the study of novels an‎d stories. The climatic an‎d rural novel is a branch of fiction writing, of which in Iran, "The Empty Place of Saluch" by Mahmoud Dowlatabadi is one of the shining examples.In the field of cinema, the village was also the focus of directorsʹ attention in the first decade of the revolution, an‎d one of the brilliant works of this period is the film "Basho Gharibeh Kuchuk" directed by Bahram Beizaei.Rural literature in other countries is also notable. One of the authors in this field is the American writer Pearl Buck, who depicted the lives of Chinese villagers in two novels, "The Good Soil" an‎d "Mother." Given the narrative similarities between these four works, this research conducted more detailed studies to discover the similarities an‎d differences between these works in terms of characterization an‎d location.The aim of this research is to show the degree of similarity an‎d difference between the works an‎d to examine the creativity an‎d innovation of each author. This research was conducted through data collection using a library method. The results obtained indicate that despite the general similarities in the narrative an‎d characteristics of the main characters, there are also profound differences between these works.As a result, it cannot be admitted that the Iranian writer an‎d director were completely influenced by Pearl Buck. Rather, they have cultivated the general idea of the foreign writer with the art an‎d power of their pen, an‎d have created a creative narrative that is in line with the characteristics of the social an‎d geographical environment an‎d characters that are appropriate to the culture of their lan‎d.
