تحليل محتواي كيفي روايات مرتبط با فضيلت زناشويي از ديدگاه اسلام

This study aimed to conduct a qualitative content analysis of Islamic narrations (Hadiths) concerning marital virtues. Given the paramount importance of establishing, preserving, an‎d strengthening the institution of marriage an‎d family—an‎d the need for positive, developmental, an‎d preventive approaches grounded in Iranian-Islamic culture—this research investigates how marital virtues, as discussed in international literature, are conceptualized within Islam through its narrative traditions. To deduce these virtues from the hadiths of the Infallibles (AS), primary narrative an‎d hadith sources were consulted. Key keywords were identified, leading to the selec‎tion of 222 relevant hadiths through searches in digital databases an‎d printed collections. From these hadiths, 287 conceptual codes were extracted, which were subsequently categorized into 33 sub-themes an‎d finally synthesized into three overarching themes: “God-Centered Virtues,” “Self-Centered Virtues,” an‎d “Other-Centered Virtues.” God-Centered Virtues encompassed the categories of almsgiving, providing family livelihood, husban‎dʹs guardianship an‎d responsibility, rights-centeredness (observing spousal rights), faith an‎d piety, chastity, a transcendent view of sexual relations, lovemaking, gratitude to God, an‎d patience. Self-Centered Virtues included prudence, fairness, good-naturedness, compassion, faith an‎d piety, contentment, chastity, maintaining oneʹs appearance, an‎d generosity. Other-Centered Virtues comprised providing for the family, support, serving oneʹs spouse an‎d family, compatibility, the husban‎dʹs care an‎d responsibility, intimacy, providing comfort, rights-centeredness, good-naturedness, mercy, respecting oneʹs spouse, compassion, faith an‎d piety (in relation to choice, spouse, an‎d family), confidentiality, humility, contentment, maintaining appearance, neatness, satisfying sexual needs, a sublime view of sexual relations, love, protectiveness (ghayrat), expressing satisfaction, appreciating oneʹs spouse, caring, tolerance, forgiveness, commitment, an‎d generosity. Based on these findings, it is recommended that both short-term an‎d long-term educational programs based on these identified marital virtues be developed for couples to enhance the quality of marital life.
