The present study aimed to predict marital quality of life based on expressive/instrumental behaviors, listening/responding style, individualism, and marital forgiveness, considering the mediating role of "we-ness" among married women in Ardakan County. This descriptive-correlational study utilized a convenience sampling method to select married women residing in this county in 2023 (1404 SH). Data were collected using standardized questionnaires, including the Marital Quality of Life Questionnaire (Norton, 1983), Expressive/Instrumental Behaviors Scale (Mohseni Kabir et al., 2019), Listening Style Profile (Duel, 1997), Individualism Scale (Ghahghari, 2014), Marital Forgiveness Measure (Pollard et al., 1998), and We-ness Scale (Topkawauser et al., 2020). Data analysis was performed using multiple regression and path analysis. The findings revealed that expressive/instrumental behaviors, reflective listening style, individualism, marital forgiveness, and the concept of we-ness significantly predicted marital quality of life. According to path analysis results, we-ness (β = 0.559), marital forgiveness (β = 0.305), and relationship-oriented expressive behaviors (β = -0.110) demonstrated the strongest effects on marital quality of life, respectively. Furthermore, we-ness was a significant positive predictor of marital forgiveness (β = 0.600) and relationship-oriented expressive behaviors (β = 0.299). These results confirm that strengthening the concept of "we-ness" as a mediating construct, along with developing forgiveness capacity and improving communicative behaviors, can be considered effective interventional strategies for enhancing marital quality of life and reducing marital conflicts.
