The present study aimed to explore the opportunities and barriers to career development among male students in the second level of secondary education residing in marginalized areas of Isfahan during the academic year 2024–2025. This research employed a qualitative approach using thematic analysis based on Braun and Clarkeʹs method. The study population consisted of all male students in grades 10 to 12 living in the marginalized regions of Isfahan. Participants were selected through purposive sampling, and data were collected via semi-structured interviews with 12 students until theoretical saturation was achieved. The findings revealed six major themes related to career path development opportunities, including "career role-modeling and self-leadership," "experiential learning and social interaction," "social, institutional, and familial support," "educational equity," "social awareness and cultural promotion," and "comprehensive interventions for career growth." Additionally, the barriers to career path development were identified in six thematic categories: "lack of career guidance," "inequality and inefficiency of the educational system," "familial obstacles," "psychological doubts and concerns about the future," "cultural and social challenges," and "financial constraints and infrastructural deficiencies." These themes were categorized at three levels: individual, familial, and social. The results of this study can be utilized by educational and career counselors, policymakers, and institutions involved in promoting educational equity and career development among underprivileged youth.
