The present study was conducted with the aim of designing and validating the wise leadership model at the University of Isfahan using a grounded theory approach. Wise leadership theory is a model of effective leadership that has a comprehensive and trans-systemic perspective on the organization and its performance, and it monitors the cultural, social, and situational issues of the organization in relation to the outside community well, and seeks the public interest and solving the problems of the community outside the university. This research is applied in terms of purpose and research methodology mixed with a sequential exploratory approach that was carried out in two stages: qualitative and quantitative methods. The research population in the qualitative part was experts and faculty members with executive experience at the University of Isfahan, and 11 people were interviewed using purposive sampling. In the quantitative section, the statistical population was 675 faculty members of the University of Isfahan, of which 246 were estimated as a sample according to the Kerjessi and Morgan table. This number was selected by stratified sampling method proportional to the volume among the faculties of the University of Isfahan. The data collection tool in the qualitative section was a semi-structured interview, and in the quantitative section, a researcher-made questionnaire based on the findings of the qualitative section. Data collection in the qualitative section was based on the data-driven method and analysis was carried out based on open and selective coding. The quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics and SPSS 26 , AMOS and SMART PLS software. To determine the validity and reliability in the qualitative part, using the opinions of professors, theoretical saturation in the data collection stage, continuous comparison of questions and use of opinions and review of the research collaborator, the reliability method, test-retest and re-study by the researcher, the reliability of the research was confirmed. In the qualitative part, a total of 413 open codes were extracted from the interviews, which, after axial and selective coding, led to the identification of 6 dimensions of the paradigm model including components of wise leadership (12 categories), appropriate context and background (7 categories), causal factors (9 categories), interfering and inhibiting factors (8 categories), strategies (8 categories), and consequences of implementing the wise leadership model (9 categories). Finally, based on them, the paradigm model of wise leadership was designed and presented for the University of Isfahan. To test the validity of the designed model, confirmatory factor analysis of convergent validity was used. The divergent and reliable Cronbachʹs alpha coefficient composite reliability of the model was tested and examined. Both the validity and reliability of the observable variables of all factors were above 0.4), Cronbachʹs alpha (0.924) and composite reliability (0.927) were confirmed. The results of factor analysis showed a favorable fit of each of the items with the factors and showed that each of the factors has an appropriate factor load to predict the main dimensions of the model. As a result, the designed model has high validity and reliability and has the ability to measure wise leadership at the University of Isfahan. Therefore, wise leadership as a pure management model can be effective in moving universities, especially the University of Isfahan, towards the fourth and fifth generations.
