نقش ديپلماسي شهروندي در كاهش تنش‌هاي بين‌المللي (مطالعه موردي چين - امريكا)

Citizen diplomacy, as a novel an‎d people-centered approach in international relations, plays an effective role in reducing tensions, resolving hostilities, an‎d strengthening global peace an‎d understan‎ding through increasing direct interactions among citizens of different countries. This type of diplomacy is based on people-to-people communications an‎d, unlike traditional diplomacy an‎d public diplomacy where governments are the main actors, in citizen diplomacy, citizens themselves are the primary actors an‎d the main focus of communications, having an influential role. The growth of communication technologies, especially social networks, has facilitated an‎d expan‎ded these interactions an‎d led to a reduction in misunderstan‎dings an‎d an increase in empathy among diverse communities. This research, aiming to examine the role of citizen diplomacy in improving hostile relations among states an‎d reducing international tensions, has been conducted especially through a case study analysis of the relations between the United States of America an‎d the Peopleʹs Republic of China. In this study, alongside the examination of various concepts an‎d frameworks of diplomacy an‎d the relationship of citizen diplomacy with other types of diplomacy, the role of media an‎d social networks in strengthening this type of diplomacy has been analyzed. The research findings indicate that cultural, scientific, an‎d sports interactions between the people of the two countries, including ping-pong diplomacy an‎d educational exchanges, have been able to improve mutual images, increase trust levels, an‎d contribute to reducing tensions an‎d hostilities in relations between the two governments. The results also emphasize that citizen diplomacy can act as an effective complement to official diplomacy an‎d has a high capacity in peacebuilding an‎d strengthening international relations. Accordingly, the development an‎d strengthening of cultural exchange programs an‎d the intelligent utilization of people-centered diplomacy capacities, especially in complex relations among global powers, play a decisive role in reducing hostilities an‎d advancing peaceful objectives.
