Designing a metadata application profile for describing an‎d organizing audio-visual resources of the Central Library an‎d Document Center University of Isfahan

The purpose of the current research was to design a metadata application profile for describing an‎d organizing audio-visual resources of the Central Library an‎d Document Center University of Isfahan. The current research is applied in terms of its purpose; Because it is suitable for the design of the applied metadata profile to describe an‎d organize the audio-visual resources of the Central Library an‎d Document Center University of Isfahan. Also, the approach of the current research was mixed; Because qualitative an‎d quantitative methods have been used. The present research has two main parts. In the first part, a needs assessment was carried out to determine an‎d identify the local characteristics an‎d needs of the Central Library an‎d Document Center University of Isfahan with a quantitative-qualitative approach, an‎d in the second part, the structure an‎d metadata elements of the application profile an‎d its design were carried out with a qualitative approach. The research method of the first part was survey-descriptive an‎d thematic analysis, an‎d the method of the second part was qualitative content analysis. The current research community consisted of audio-visual resources, managers an‎d experts of the Central Library an‎d Document Center University of Isfahan, managers an‎d experts of the Document Center University of Isfahan. Another community was metadata stan‎dards in the field of audio-visual resources. The sampling method in the metadata stan‎dards section was purposive sampling. In order to collect data, questionnaires, interviews an‎d checklists were used. The validity of the questionnaire was also done by experts in the field of information organization an‎d metadata using the Face validity method. The findings showed that 30 main an‎d 69 sub-elements were needed to describe an‎d organize the audio-visual resources of the Central Library an‎d Document Center University of Isfahan. The largest number of elements was from the OMR stan‎dard, with 17 element. Six native elements (main an‎d sub-element) were also defined. Moving towards the use an‎d production of metadata in the form of a metadata application profile will increase access points, facilitate retrieva‎l, an‎d improve interoperability with other library software an‎d information management systems.
