Examining an‎d identifying the needs of marginal teachers for professional development from the perspective of elementary school administrators

The aim of the present research is to examine an‎d identify the needs of marginal teachers for professional development from the perspective of elementary school principals. This study is applied in nature an‎d qualitative in methodology. The statistical population of the research includes all elementary school principals in Shahrekord County during the academic year 2023-2024. Using purposive sampling, 14 elementary school principals were selec‎ted, an‎d semi-structured interviews were conducted with them. For analyzing the information obtained from the interviews, a categorization method was employed. The results of the research indicated that the needs of marginal teachers include: a) Development of teaching methods, which encompasses (the use of various teaching strategies, proper interaction with students, accurate an‎d continuous assessment, management weaknesses in classroom administration, an‎d having sufficient knowledge an‎d information), b) Utilization of educational technology (belief in the use of educational technology, skill development for marginal teachers, employing specialists in schools, using educational technology equipment, an‎d having sufficient motivation), c) Collaboration among marginal teachers (adequate mastery of educational content, constructive relationships with other colleagues, an‎d belief in teamwork), d) Professional growth an‎d development of marginal teachers (sufficient motivation, adequate mastery of required content knowledge, practicality of in-service training courses, lack of resistance to adopting new technologies, an‎d supervision an‎d eva‎luation of teachersʹ instruction by educational supervisors). The strategies that can help address the needs of marginal teachers include: improving the performance of marginal teachers through various educational methods, enhancing the economic situation of marginal teachers, an‎d identifying the root causes of the problems faced by these teachers.
