The aim of the present research is to examine and identify the needs of marginal teachers for professional development from the perspective of elementary school principals. This study is applied in nature and qualitative in methodology. The statistical population of the research includes all elementary school principals in Shahrekord County during the academic year 2023-2024. Using purposive sampling, 14 elementary school principals were selected, and semi-structured interviews were conducted with them. For analyzing the information obtained from the interviews, a categorization method was employed. The results of the research indicated that the needs of marginal teachers include: a) Development of teaching methods, which encompasses (the use of various teaching strategies, proper interaction with students, accurate and continuous assessment, management weaknesses in classroom administration, and having sufficient knowledge and information), b) Utilization of educational technology (belief in the use of educational technology, skill development for marginal teachers, employing specialists in schools, using educational technology equipment, and having sufficient motivation), c) Collaboration among marginal teachers (adequate mastery of educational content, constructive relationships with other colleagues, and belief in teamwork), d) Professional growth and development of marginal teachers (sufficient motivation, adequate mastery of required content knowledge, practicality of in-service training courses, lack of resistance to adopting new technologies, and supervision and evaluation of teachersʹ instruction by educational supervisors). The strategies that can help address the needs of marginal teachers include: improving the performance of marginal teachers through various educational methods, enhancing the economic situation of marginal teachers, and identifying the root causes of the problems faced by these teachers.
