The family, as one of the most important social institutions, plays a key role in the mental and social health of its members. However, cultural and social developments have led to an increase in divorce and the formation of single-parent families. Meanwhile, divorced men with child custody face numerous psychological, emotional, and economic challenges that lead to single-parent burnout. Therefore, the aim of this study was to Discovering the factors affecting the burnout of single parenthood after divorce in men with child custody and developing a questionnaire based on it. Considering the aim, this study employed a mixed-methods research approach (qualitative and quantitative) with an exploratory-sequential design. The qualitative part of the research was conducted using a Grounded theory methods. The participants in this study were 14 people who were selected through purposive sampling from divorced men with child custody in Yasuj city who had been divorced for at least six months. The findings from the semi-structured interviews with the participants were continued based on the theoretical saturation principle and the data were analyzed through the three-stage open, axial and selective coding techniques of Strauss and Corbin. The coding results resulted in the formation of 5 selective codes, 17 axial codes and 173 open codes. Causal factors were: interactional problems, burden of educational responsibility, adaptation to changes after divorce, work-life imbalance; contextual factors were: financial pressures, support issues, social problems, psychological crises; intervening factors were: burnout due to fatigue, lack of time for self-development; strategies were: self-care development, support strategies, financial strengthening strategies, strategies at the family level; and finally the outcomes included increasing the level of capabilities, improving living conditions for children, and psychological consequences, and on this basis a questionnaire with 173 items was designed. According to the findings of the present study, it can be concluded that single parent burnout in men with child custody is caused by a combination of psychological, social, economic, etc. factors. Identifying these factors and developing a questionnaire based on them will enable the provision of support strategies, therapeutic interventions, and more effective policies to reduce pressures and improve the quality of life of this group.
