Over time, the political relations of countries have experienced ups and downs, and at each moment, their behavior and tools of confrontation reflect the depth or level of their interaction or conflict. Iran is among the countries that, due to its independence-seeking policies after the Islamic Revolution, has faced the most severe illegal sanctions from the United States of America, the States under its political influence, and the United Nations Security Council. These sanctions have impacted various aspects of the life of the Iranian peoples, leading to detrimental outcomes, including the violation of human rights, such as the right to a healthy environment. Illegal sanctions directly and indirectly target the right to a healthy environment and hinder citizensʹ enjoyment of their environmental rights in various ways. Examples of the adverse effects of sanctions on the right to a healthy environment include: the prohibition of refined gasoline exports to Iran, increased pollutant concentrations, air, water, and soil pollution, suffering from various diseases including leukemia, reduced lifespan and premature death, difficulties in conducting transactions for importing modern environmentally friendly equipment, and the deprivation of intra- and intergenerational environmental rights. Another dimension of the adverse effects of sanctions on the right to a healthy environment, is jeopardizing the enjoyment of other human rights, since the full realization of all human rights, as articulated in successive generations, is contingent upon a secure, healthy, and sustainable environment. Therefore, the violation of the right to a healthy environment due to illegal sanctions will disrupt the enjoyment of other human rights. Addressing the adverse effects of sanctions on the enjoyment of the right to a healthy environment can be achieved through measures such as: employing green technology, establishing a nuclear economy to confront sanctions-induced economic warfare, expanding knowledge-based environmental activities in large and small industries, and utilizing artificial intelligence to address the current threats to the right to a healthy environment and preventing potential risks. In this research, we aim to answer the research questions by employing an analytical-descriptive approach.
