Adverbs are one of the most heterogeneous lexical categories of speech components in terms of structural, morphological and syntactic characteristics, which necessitates linguistic studies and their classification into two sets of intrinsic (specific) and non-intrinsic (common) adverbs. Considering the meaning-based background of grammar research, especially in the case of adverbs, Croft believes that the semantic criterion alone is not able to determine the grammatical class or category of words, but also the role of propositional action of the components of speech should be considered. Accordingly, the present study, in the framework of functional linguistics, aims to identify the distinctive features of the grammatical category of individual and group adverbial structures based on semantic, pragmatic and structural criteria and also with the help of some morphological and syntactic tests. Therefore, in order to achieve the goals and answer the research questions, first, an inventory of 1,100 individual and group words (including simple linguistic structures, compounds, derivatives, idiomatic phrases and so on.) with the functional potential of an adverb has been collected in a library way from various texts, especially Persian language dictionaries as research data, and has been classified as various morphological, syntactic and semantic categories, and in the next step, another grammar class 0f parts 0f speech called triple Horuff , especially the preposition, has been studied in detail in terms of adverbial function, and the results obtained have been described and presented in the form of various indexes. at the end, the most important distinguishing features of the grammatical category of adverbs are briefly recounted.
