The general aim of the research was to determine the role of recreational and sports programs at the workplace in the organizational socialization of newcomers. The method of conducting this qualitative research was exploratory, which was carried out in the field. Data collection was done through semi-structured interviews with 10 new university faculty members who were selected in a purposeful way. The power of information method was used to determine the number of interviewees, and data analysis was performed using the thematic analysis method and the six-step framework of Brown and Clark (2006). According to the opinion of the interviewees, seven roles were identified for recreational and sports programs at the workplace in the socialization of newcomers. The role of networking included 6 codes, which showed that the participants in the recreational activities of the workplace get suitable opportunities for informal interactions and networking with other colleagues. The role of familiarity and recognition, which showed with 10 codes that attending workplace entertainment is helpful in facilitating peopleʹs recognition of others, as well as familiarity with the work environment and the organizationʹs culture. Communication and interactions have been identified as another key component, which showed with 8 codes that recreational activities at the workplace can provide opportunities for forming informal communication, breaking organizational hierarchies, and promoting open dialogue among employees. The role of de-stressing with 6 extracted codes introduced fun at work as a means to reduce stress and create a positive work balance in newly arrived employees. Integration and closeness and empathy with 9 codes emerged as one of the important themes and showed that fun in the workplace creates a sense of honesty, trust, intimacy and empathy among employees. The role of education and professional qualifications also showed with 6 identified codes that recreational or sports activities at the workplace provide an interactive and enjoyable learning environment that can play a role in familiarizing with work tasks, improving work skills and using other peopleʹs work experiences. have The last role was adaptation and compliance with 5 codes, which showed that participating in recreational activities at the workplace helps the adaptation of new arrivals with colleagues, work environment and organizational conditions. In total, in this research, after checking and modifying and changing the codes, among the 427 initial codes, 50 codes were identified in seven factors based on thematic analysis method. Therefore, officials and managers in different fields can use the results of this research, with the help of recreational and sports programs in the workplace, to create effective strategies to improve the level of socialization of newcomers, and also policy makers in this field can develop more comprehensive strategies to promote the presence of employees. Develop in recreational and sports activities and invent innovative methods to improve the socialization process of people and the success of organizations.
