One of the common topics in divine religions is the discussion of the end of the world, humanity, and the final period of human history, referred to as the term "end times". In this thesis, the concept of "end times" refers to the period related to the emergence of the savior. Two important issues in the discussion of end times are the components and requirements. The components refer to the characteristics, descriptions, and conditions expressed for the end times. The requirements refer to the duties, musts, and must-nots that believers should know and observe in order to preserve their religion and faith.
The purpose of this thesis is to examine the components and requirements of the end times in Nahj al-Balagha and Paul's epistles, and to explore their similarities and differences. This thesis has been conducted using library resources and a descriptive-analytical method with a comparative approach.
The research results show that the components of the end times in Nahj al-Balagha include: transformation of Islamic concepts, distortion of Quranic meanings and interpretation based on personal opinion, division among people, reversal of good and evil, concealment of truth and revelation of falsehood, disregard for the Quran, misguidance and deviation of people, following personal desires and opposition to God's religion, abundance of lies attributed to God and the Prophet (PBUH), deviation of mosques and their people from guidance, war, rule of oppressive rulers, emergence of sedition, and the characteristics of sedition and the appearance of Imam Mahdi (AJ).
The requirements of the end times in Nahj al-Balagha include: repentance and seeking divine forgiveness, not being deceived by blessings, striving to receive God's mercy, seeking refuge in God and submitting to Him, adhering to Islamic tradition and the Prophet's covenant, being steadfast in obedience, adherence to the Quran and following it, readiness for testing in the end times, acquiring knowledge from scholars, being a believer, following the truth, being oppressed before God, abstaining from injustice and enmity, forming a permanent bond with the congregation and pillars of obedience, necessity of caution during seditions, staying away from sedition and innovation, not following Satan, and staying away from forbidden things.
The components of the end times in Paul's epistles include: prevalence of unethical characteristics, dreadful events, rebellion against God and appearance of Antichrist, hardships and suffering, and the appearance of Jesus Christ (AS).
The requirements of the end times in Paul's epistles include: love for God and obeying His commandments, not following personal desires, obedience to God's commandments, anticipation of Jesus' return (AS), disbelief in false reports about Jesus' return (AS), preservation of faith, mutual support among believers.
In comparing these two chapters, it is concluded that Nahj al-Balagha and Paul's epistles have similarities in some components such as the emergence of Antichrist and in some requirements such as being a believer; however, they differ in other components such as distortion of Quranic meanings and reversal of good and evil in Nahj al-Balagha, and the component of prevalence of unethical characteristics in Paul's epistles. They also differ in requirements such as acquiring knowledge from scholars and following the truth in Nahj al-Balagha, as opposed to not believing false reports about Jesus' return (AS) in Paul's epistles.
