Wind erosion is one of the main problems in arid and semi-arid regions of the country, including Isfahan province. One of the important centers of wind erosion in the province is the Segzi Plain, which is located 30 kilometers east of Isfahan and is considered as one of the critical areas due to the extent and intensity of desertification. This area has a special strategic position due to the presence of industrial centers, Shahid Babaei international airport, railway lines, transit roads, agricultural centers and proximity to the city and historical places, therefore due to wind erosion and the movement of quicksands. The creation of dust storm can cause many damages to these facilities and the health problem for the society. Finding a way to control or reduce this problem is one of the main goals of this study. For this purpose, with the aim of investigating the effectiveness of the combination of two biopolymers, Xanthan and Guar, modeling tests of wind erosion control were conducted in the wind tunnel with the soil cover resulting from the combination of these two biopolymers. In this research, Guar and Xanthan were first mixed together and2g of effective substance was obtained,and this 2g of effective substance was sprayed on the surface of the soil sample after increasing the volume and each sample was repeated in 3 repetitions and put in wind tunnel at speeds of 6.5, 9.5 and 13 m/s. The wind was tested and compared with the control sample at the same speeds. The results of the wind tunnel tests showed that if the active ingredients of xanthan and guar are sprayed on the soil surface, its resistance to wind erosion increases greatly due to the formation of a resistant crust on the soil surface. The results of data analysis with the help of SPSS22 software showed that the amount of 5 grams per square meter of this compound has a significant effect on the control sample. So that the treated sample had 0.023% erosion at the speed of 13 m/s and the control sample had 41% erosion at the same speed. There were not many changes in the results of the granulation test, only in some cases the size of the treated grains larger than the control. From an economic point of view, using the combination of these two biopolymers instead of petroleum mulch, the costs is considerably reduced. According to the mentioned cases, it can be concluded that the combination of two biopolymers, Guar and Xanthan, has a significant performance in reducing wind erosion and is also economically viable.
