The book "Writing adaptations and translations for the stage" by Jacqueline Goldfinger and Alison Horsley is a practical guide for all artists and enthusiasts in this field. Routledge published this book in 2023. Its prominent features include a simple and engaging style, innovative content, and rich and diverse material. With a deep understanding of the challenges in this field, the authors present a creative and step-by-step approach that goes beyond old and less useful norms, emphasizing the diversity of methods and the use of practical experiences. This book covers important processes such as brainstorming, writing an adaptation, translation, production, case studies, and adaptation in other performative modes. In the translation process, Newmarkʹs communicative approach (1988) has been adopted as the basis, and
efforts have been made to effectively convey the message to the audience by prioritizing readability, fluency, and cultural versatility. This required cultural equivalence, clarification of ambiguities, and, in some cases, the use of creative solutions to preserve the function and impact of the original text. Given the lack of similar resources in Iran, the translation of this book can be an important step towards improving the quality of performing arts and facilitating knowledge exchange between Iranian and non-Iranian artists. This work is recommended as a valuable resource for students, teachers, and artists in theater and even other disciplines.
