Abstract
This research examines and analyzes the teachings of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) concerning behavior control, with a specific emphasis on its “starying points,” as found in the esteemed sources of Nahj al-Bala_ghah and Ghurar al-Hikam. In the current era, considering the escalating challenges in individual and social behaviors, this study, employing a library-based methodology, endeavors to elucidate the theoretical and practical foundations for behavioral improvement, grounded in religious texts. The primary objective of this research is to systematically identify and categorize the sayings of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) across three domains: cognitive, motivational, and behavioral, all pertinent to behavior control. Through the content analysis of these sayings, a conceptual framework is presented that underscores the significance of initial steps in the process of behavior formation. This framework aids in clarifying the intellectual, motivational, and behavioral underpinnings of human beings and offers strategies for the reform and enhancement of life quality. The importance of this research is manifested in its provision of a comprehensive and practical perspective on the teachings of Alawites (Imam Ali’s lineage) regarding behavior control. The findings of this research are generalizable to the fields of psychology, ethics, and educational sciences, and can lead to the presentation of practical solutions for the improvement of individual and social behavior. The central achievement of this research lies in offering a novel perspective on fundamental religious principles such as the remembrance of God, the remembrance of death, intellect, and other similar concepts, which are elucidated as initiators for the control of cognitions, motivations, and behaviors.
